Using Smooth Mesh and Subdivision Surfaces to increase a polygon mesh resolution

This tutorial shows how to increase the resolution of a polygon mesh. It shows why the Smooth Mesh function can sometimes lead to a faceted look even after up-resing. It also shows why subdivision surfaces may be a better alternative. Finally, it shows how to adjust the source lathe object in order to increase the resolution of the derived polygon mesh without needing Smooth Mesh or subdivision surfaces.

Cobalt, Using the Solid Lip feature

This Cobalt modeling tutorial shows how to use the ‘Lip’ feature in the solid modeling toolset. It also shows how to simply use the layers palette to organize object content, and how to use Cobalts ‘Planes’ function to control profile creation. Planes are analogs to Active Grids in Design3D.
