Modeling a salt shaker in Design 3D

This polygon modeling tutorial shows how to model the body of a salt shaker. It shows how to model the object with Design 3D’s modeling paradigm, using polygons and subdivision surfaces, and is a companion to the same object modeled in Cobalt.

Using Smooth Mesh and Subdivision Surfaces to increase a polygon mesh resolution

This tutorial shows how to increase the resolution of a polygon mesh. It shows why the Smooth Mesh function can sometimes lead to a faceted look even after up-resing. It also shows why subdivision surfaces may be a better alternative. Finally, it shows how to adjust the source lathe object in order to increase the resolution of the derived polygon mesh without needing Smooth Mesh or subdivision surfaces.
